\"Poker\" <\/p>\n

Poker is a card game in which players bet to make a winning hand. It involves a mixture of luck and skill, with the higher-skilled players tending to win over the long run. There are many different forms of poker, and the game may be played by two or more people. Some games use wild cards, while others only permit the use of standard poker cards.<\/p>\n

Poker can be played with any number of players from 2 to 14. However, the ideal number is 6 to 8 players. The game is usually played with a fixed amount of money per player (the pot). A player may bet any amount during his turn, or he can simply check. The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n

Some poker variations require players to place a blind bet before being dealt a hand. This bet may replace the ante or be in addition to it. The first player to place a bet must raise at least the established minimum; players may then open or check.<\/p>\n

A good poker player should vary his opening strategy to keep opponents guessing about his hand holdings. This will balance the times when he raises with premium hands such as aces or kings. Suited connectors and face cards are not premium holdings, but they can be raised occasionally to take out weaker hands.
